General
Chile are making their Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020. They qualified through the CAF-CONMEBOL play-off, defeating Cameroon 2-1 on aggregate with both legs of the contest played in Turkey in April 2021.

The Chilean team played at their first World Cup in 2019 in France. They faced tough opposition at the tournament, with two of the other three teams in their group [Sweden and the United States of America] going on to finish in the top three. Chile lost 2-0 to the Swedes and 3-0 to the US team, but did chalk up a maiden World Cup victory with a 2-0 win over Thailand.

Chile were runners-up at the 2018 Copa America Femenina, which they hosted. It was their highest ranking at the tournament since 1991 and secured their spot at the 2019 World Cup, as well as the CAF-CONMEBOL play-off that gave them the chance to reach Tokyo 2020.
