General Interest

General
The RPC secured their ticket to Tokyo as one of two teams to qualify at the 2018 World Championships in the Netherlands.

The Russian Federation have not made an appearance at the Paralympic Games. The Russian team became world champions in 2018 after a world championship campaign that began with a 3-0 win over Japan, followed by a 3-0 defeat to the US team. A pool phase victory over Hungary ensured progression to the knockout stages where they first overcame Brazil 3-1, before a straight sets win over the People's Republic of China in the semifinals. In the final the Russians turned the tables on the US team, avenging their pool phase loss with a 3-1 victory to claim their maiden world title. It was their second consecutive world championship medal, having secured bronze in 2014.

At continental level the Russian team are back-to-back European champions, and defeated Italy in the final of the 2019 edition.
