She was involved in various sports when she was younger, including athletics, dancing and judo. After sustaining her impairment she wanted to play some sport again. "My friend showed me sitting volleyball, and I began searching for information on the internet. I met Lisa [Elizaveta] Kunstman [Russian sitting volleyball player], and she introduced me to coach Alexander Ovsyannikov. So I started working and playing volleyball at the same time, and on vacation I went to my first training camp. The girls were convincing me to quit work, to devote myself completely to the sport, but I was afraid. I left volleyball for a year but then quit my job and returned with the firm intention to devote my whole life to the sport. I have no regrets about my decision."
