General Interest

OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Competed at the inaugural Olympic tournament at Antwerp 1920, and have contested every Games since Salt Lake City 2002. They will be making their 18th appearance at Beijing 2022.

Their best results came on home soil at St. Moritz, winning the bronze medal in 1928 and 1948. Since then, they have only appeared in the top eight five times, with their best result in recent history being sixth at Torino 2006 when they lost only one match in the preliminary round, before being eliminated by eventual gold medallists Sweden in the quarterfinals.

Finished in 10th at PyeongChang 2018, winning their only match against the host nation, Republic of Korea, by eight goals. They lost in the qualification playoffs in overtime to Germany (2-1), with Yannic Seidenberg (GER) scoring the game-winner 26 seconds into the extra period.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Nine-time World Championships medallists, including winning bronze at their first appearance in 1930. They won seven medals before 1954. They lost to Sweden 5-1 in the gold medal game in 2013, before playing the Swedes again for gold in 2018, losing in a shootout as Anders Nilsson (SWE) saved four consecutive shots.

Finished sixth at the 2021 World Championships in Riga, losing to Germany in a shootout in the quarterfinals. After Switzerland went up 2-0 midway through the second period, Germany finally scored their first goal to close the period. With 1:25 remaining, Germany pulled their goaltender and with the man advantage Leon Gawanke (GER) grabbed the equaliser in the final minute. In the shootout, Marcel Noebels' (GER) final goal proved the difference.

QUALIFICATION
Qualified for Beijing 2022 after finishing eighth in qualification seeding following the 2019 World Championships in Slovakia.
