General Interest

General
Canada secured the last ticket to Tokyo with victory over Ukraine in the gold medal match of the final Paralympic qualification event, held on home soil in Halifax in early 2020.

Tokyo will be the Canadians' second Paralympic appearance after making their debut at the 2016 Games. In Rio they lost all three group matches against Brazil, Ukraine and the Netherlands, but managed to post a 3-0 victory over Rwanda in their classification match to finish seventh out of eight teams.

Canada have made two world championship appearances, beginning with a 12th-placed finish in 2010. At the 2018 edition they defeated Rwanda and Croatia in their opening matches before suffering a 3-2 loss to hosts the Netherlands in their final pool match. They went on to lose 3-0 to the Chinese team in the quarterfinals, followed by defeat to Brazil in their opening classification match. They ended the tournament on a positive, gaining a measure of revenge against the host nation in the playoff for seventh place.
