Impairment Details
She developed septicaemia as a result of pneumococcal pneumonia and a bacterial infection. The condition resulted in an impairment to her right arm and both of her legs being amputated below the knee in 2011. (Athlete, 15 Dec 2015; paralympic.ca, 22 Jul 2015)

FROM FIJI TO CANADA
She was born in Suva, Fiji, and spent the first 12 years of her life in the country before moving to San Francisco, CA, United States of America with her mother. They later moved to Vancouver, BC, Canada when she was age 20. (yourstory.com, 15 Dec 2016; paralympic.ca, 01 Feb 2020)

CAREER
She took four years off work due to her illness and says returning to work at software company SAP, where she began at age 24, is one of her proudest achievements. "It meant that I was fine to drive, to spend eight hours at work, and to become a valuable and independent member of society again." In 2018 she received the Diversity and Inclusion Award from SAP for her involvement in her community, including teaching children how to play sitting volleyball. OTHER ACTIVITIES
