General Interest

Made their Olympic debut at PyeongChang 2018, securing the last qualifying position after finishing eighth during the 2017/18 season. Sitting towards the back for most of the final, the Hungarians made their move with two laps remaining, passing Canada and winning the nation’s first Olympic Winter Games gold medal in Olympic record time (6:31.971).

Made the World Championship final every season since 2015, except 2018 when falls in both the semi-final and B Final resulted in last-place finishes. Won bronze in 2019, finishing only 0.669 seconds behind gold medallists Republic of Korea.

Finished the 2018/19 World Cup season first overall, courtesy of winning events in Calgary and Salt Lake City. Only one victory in 2019/20, winning in Montreal.

The team has competed in the European Championship final every year since 2013 (except 2014), finishing on the podium five times. Their first European title was in 2019, when they edged out the Netherlands by 0.081 seconds. Disqualified in the final in 2020.
