Has won with the Hungarian men's relay team a World Championship bronze (2019), European Championship gold (2019) and bronze (2018) and three World Cup wins (with one in the mixed relay). Current world record holder in the 5000m relay.

For Hungary:
2020 World Cup in Dresden (1500m - 22nd, Relay - 6th, Mixed Relay - 1st)

:

September 2019: Tibia injury at the Hungarian National Championships, which delayed his first international appearance for Hungary. Returned for the Dresden World Cup in February 2020.

2013: Swine flu forced him to withdraw from the US trials for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

:

Following his older brother Cole, he started skating at age five. "We were very competitive as brothers, we liked racing each other in everything we did, whether it was first to the dinner table or first back to the car from grocery shopping. My family got a call from Pittsburgh Speed Skating Club saying they had seen my brother racing other kids on the public session. Then he started racing on the team, he loved it, and then a couple of years after, as I got to the ripe old age of five, I followed him." (post-gazette.com, 7 Feb 2018)

“I think people from the outside overcomplicate it. For me, it’s simple. I love the sport and I’m naturally a competitive person. I found a sport that allowed me to go fast.” (isu.org, post-gazette.com, 7 Feb 2018)

:

After training with the Pittsburgh Speedskating Club, he moved all over the world to train, training in Washington DC (USA), Salt Lake City (USA), Seoul (KOR), Heerenveen (NED) and Budapest (HUN). “If I was in the US programme, training would be free. But there is only one opportunity in your life to not only be a professional athlete but to be at your peak performance. Everywhere I travel all over the world is part of the bigger picture of trying to reach my maximum potential. Trying to find what works best for me.” (nbcwashington.com, 11 Feb 2018)

General Interest

NATIONALITY SWITCH
Due to a lack of funding and financial support, he decided to switch from representing the United States to Hungary following the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. He gained Hungarian citizenship the same year and began competing for the national team in 2020. His brother Cole had previously made the switch to represent Hungary after training with the Hungarian national team since 2016.

"I was and am still proud to have represented the United States during my career but have been faced with an unsustainable situation where if I continue pursuing my career with the US team I will bankrupt myself and my family. Hungary supports its achieving athletes on a level above and beyond anything I have asked for or would ever ask for from US Speedskating. I will be able to pay for basic necessities like groceries, rent, apartment furnishings, clothes and equipment without putting myself and my family in debt. Of course, there will be criticism, and that is criticism I expect and understand. Americans have a strong sense of national pride, as do I. However, I believe my fans, supporters and countrymen will understand the situation. This doesn't change my feelings or pride in winning a silver medal for the United States in Korea." (usatoday.com, 30 Apr 2018)

PRESIDENTIAL MEETING
After Team USA finished fourth on the medal table at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, the team met President Donald Trump at a reception in the White House. Trump singled out individual athletes for praise, taking particular interest in Krueger’s legs. “Let me see the legs. Pretty strong legs, I’ll tell you. I look at those legs when we want to work out. Great job.” (theguardian.com, 27 Apr 2018)
