General
Australia arrive in Tokyo looking to win their third consecutive gold medal. The team defeated Canada 66-51 in the final in 2012 in London, and then beat the United States of America by just one point to secure gold with a 59-58 victory at Rio 2016. The Australian team also won silver medals at the Paralympic Games in 2000 and 2008, missing out on gold to the United States of America on both occasions. In the final at the 2000 Games, the US team came out on top by a single point, winning 32-31.

Australia have finished on the podium at the last three editions of the world championships, winning gold in 2014 and silver in both 2010 and 2018. Australia hosted the 2018 tournament in Sydney, where one point was the difference between gold and silver as Japan ran out 62-61 winners in the final. However, the silver medal was enough to secure Australia qualification for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
