:
He began competing in wheelchair rugby in 2013. (paralympic.org.au, 01 Sep 2020)
:
He took up wheelchair rugby after hearing about the sport from a friend while undergoing spinal rehabilitation. "I was lucky I found rugby. It started off as a fun thing, it got me out of a bad place that I was in where I wasn't doing much after my accident. Things happen, accidents happen, and you just get over it and figure out the best way to move on with your life. It doesn't matter if you have little function or a lot of function, everyone is involved on court. It gets you back to feeling what it was like before your accident." (bluemountainsgazette.com.au, 21 Jun 2019; abc.net.au, 10 Feb 2019)
:
To win a gold medal at the Paralympic Games. (paralympic.org.au, 01 Sep 2020)
:
Representing Australia at the 2018 Texas Hold'em Wheelchair Rugby Tournament in Las Vegas, NV, United States of America, and being part of the New South Wales team that defeated Canada in 2017. (paralympic.org.au, 11 Nov 2018)
:
"Wheelchair rugby has changed my life in a lot of ways. It's gotten me from thinking I'm in a wheelchair and things are pretty tough, to me not caring about that at all. I've met so many cool people, new friends who I just love. It's awesome getting out and being active and travelling the world to play sport - it's a pretty good life. To be honest, if I could break my neck, I'd break it again, because I'm in such a good place." (abc.net.au, 10 Feb 2019)
