CONTACT SPORT
She played rugby league and touch football growing up, and originally wanted to take up wheelchair rugby after her accident. "I hated basketball, because growing up I wasn't tall, I was this little thing walking around. But I played rugby league, touch football. I never practised individual sport, so I'm always a team player. So then I came across wheelchair rugby first, I saw it for two minutes, and I was like, 'that's it, that's me'. The amount of contacts was just like rugby league. Unfortunately, for me at the time, wheelchair rugby was played for people with quadriplegia, and that wasn't me. And then I went to the next best 'non-contact' sport which was wheelchair basketball. So I looked at it, and it was 'crash, crash, crash', that's me. It called my attention because of its level of contact." (Thinktank Social YouTube channel, 21 Aug 2020; artiosport.com, 14 Jul 2020)
