She tried the sport at a Goalball 4 Schools programme. "What I wasn't completely aware of or didn't take advantage of at a younger age was the number of visually impaired sporting opportunities there were in New South Wales. Personally I enjoy goalball as it is completely unique and kind of a bit addictive. It's also 100% inclusive because everyone on court is completely blindfolded." Vision impairment (paralympic.org.au, 01 Jan 2020)

Impairment Details
At age six she was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease called panuveitis. "It's an auto-immune disease that results in inflammation of the eye. But then I just kept getting unlucky. I faced countless medical complications with everything from, UV glaucoma to macular edema to cataracts to exudative retinal detachments to vitreous hemorrhages and to retinal tumors. I've been treated for it with everything from extensive eye drops and tablets to low-dose chemotherapy, monthly biologic drug infusions, eye injections, eye implants and over 40 procedures. It has left me with restricted visual fields and a visual acuity in my right eye of somewhere less than 260, and minimal functional vision in my left eye." (Save Sight Institute YouTube channel, 13 Oct 2020; paralympic.org.au, 01 Jan 2020)

General
INFUSION INJECTION
In July 2021 she was taught how to self inject a dose of infusion medication for her auto-immune condition so that she could self administer in hotel quarantine on return from the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. "Another random skill to add to my repertoire! I'm so thankful for my medical team and all the efforts they've put in over the last month to make the Paralympics a viable option in terms of my health and medical condition."
