Ukraine has enjoyed significant success in swimming since making its Paralympic debut in Atlanta in 1996, with the sport accounting for almost half of the medals the NPC has won at the Games.

Maksym Veraksa claimed eight gold medals in the pool in three Paralympic appearances between 2008 and 2016. He won four golds on debut in Beijing, added another three in London in 2012, and claimed a single Paralympic title in the men's S12 50m freestyle in Rio. He has also won four bronze medals at the Games to take his overall medal count to 12. Operating in largely the same time period as Veraksa, Viktor Smyrnov's tally of six Paralympic swimming titles between 2004 and 2016 is less than his compatriot, but he stands alone as the NPC's most prolific medal-winner with 14 total podium finishes. Another notable swimmer for Ukraine is Olena Akopyan, who secured 13 medals over her 12-year Paralympic career. However, she only won gold on one occasion, claiming victory in the women's S5 50m freestyle at Athens 2004.

Ukraine's men's 7-a-side football team has won a medal at every edition of the Games since the turn of the century. The team's success began with silver at the 2000 Games in Sydney, and they followed that result with back-to-back Paralympic titles in 2004 and 2008. They had to settle for the runners-up spot again at London 2012, before returning to the top of the podium at the most recent Games in Rio de Janeiro, as they contributed to the NPC's 41 gold medals in 2016.
