General Interest
Athletes from Bahrain have competed in three sports at the Paralympic Games - powerlifting, table tennis, and athletics. All of the NPC's Paralympic medals have come in athletics.
Khaled Al Saqer secured gold in the men's slalom 1A event at the 1988 Games, and then claimed silver in the THW2-3 discus at Barcelona 1992. Sprinter Adel Sultan is also a multiple medallist at the Paralympic Games, winning a bronze medal in 1984 in Los Angeles and a silver four years later in Seoul.
At the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, Fatema Nedham became the first female athlete representing Bahrain to win a Paralympic medal by claiming gold in the F53 shot put. Nedham was making her third appearance at the Paralympic Games in 2016, having debuted at age 41 eight years earlier at Beijing 2008.
