General
Kenya qualified for their third Olympic Games, and their first since 2004, by winning the 2020 African Olympic Qualification Tournament in Yaounde, Cameroon.

The team first competed at the Olympic Games in 2000 in Sydney, and made their second appearance four years later in Athens. Kenya finished bottom in their pool on both occasions and will be looking to win their first match at an Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Kenya have excelled at continental level, winning five titles at the African Games between 1991 and 2019, and also securing nine gold medals at the African championship between 1991 and 2015. They have finished as runners-up at the last two editions of the tournament, following defeat to Cameroon in the final in both 2017 and 2019.

The Kenyan team were ranked 20th at the 2018 World Championships in Japan. They have also been regular participants at the World Cup, appearing at four consecutive editions of the tournament since 2007. Their best result is a 10th-place finish in 2015.
