General Interest

General
The Netherlands secured their place in the inaugural Olympic 3x3 competition at the Olympic qualifying tournament held in Graz, Austria, in May 2021. They lost their opening two matches in Graz but went on to win the next four, including a victory over reigning world champions the United States of America. That victory set up a contest with France, which the Dutch team won to book their ticket to Tokyo.

The Netherlands have twice been runners-up at the World Cup. In both 2017 and 2018 they were beaten by Serbia in the final, losing by three points on both occasions. At the 2019 edition, on home soil in Amsterdam, they lost to Serbia once again in the pool phase. They were also defeated by eventual champions the United States of America, and wins against the Korean team and Turkey were not enough to see them progress to the knockout stage.

The Dutch team's standout performance at continental level was their third-place finish at the 2016 Europe Cup in Bucharest. At the 2019 edition, they lost both pool games against Spain and Ukraine and ranked 12th.
