General Interest

Though the Netherlands women’s team has competed at six of eight Olympic contests, they have never made the A Final. Missing the cut by 0.059 seconds in PyeongChang 2018, the Dutch women came out and broke the world record in the B Final (4:03.471). After both Canada and China were disqualified in the A Final, the Netherlands were awarded the bronze medal.

Eight-time medallists at the World Championships, winning a silver medal in 2018, after holding off Canada by 0.144 seconds. In 2019, the Dutch women led from the front until the second last lap, when Suzanne Schulting slipped, knocking the Netherlands off the podium.

Finished atop the World Cup podium 10 times, including twice in 2019/20 (Dresden, Dordrecht), finishing first overall for the season. One of only five nations to win the overall title, they sit third behind China (12) and Korea (8), with two firsts and two second overall finishes.

Both the Netherlands and Italy have seven European titles, but the Dutch have won the past two contests, including beating the Italians in 2020.
