Team Mouat

General Interest

Despite being one of two nations to contest every Olympic Winter Games curling tournament, the British have won only two medals: gold at the inaugural Games at Chamonix 1924 and silver at Sochi 2014, with a fourth-place finish at Torino 2006.

En route to their silver medal in Sochi, Great Britain defeated Norway in a tiebreaker, scoring two shots on the final end to win 6-5. They replicated the performance in the semifinal, defeating Sweden’s Team Edin 6-5, scoring two shots in the final end. But in the gold medal game, Britain’s luck run out and they were routed 9-3 by Canada. At PyeongChang 2018, Britain finished fifth, after losing to Switzerland (9-5) in a tiebreaker.

Competing as Scotland at the world championships, the Scots have five championship titles and 20 runner-up finishes. They reached the podium every year between 2005-13 (except 2007), with the teams skipped by David Murdoch and Tom Brewster accounting for two gold, four silver and a bronze medal.

Team Mouat’s first world championship in 2018 resulted in a bronze medal. Finishing the round-robin stage 11-1, the Scots lost to Canada (9-5) in the semifinal, but dominated the Republic of Korea 11-4 in the bronze medal game. They returned to the podium in 2021, facing Sweden's Team Edin in the final. Tied 5-5 going into the ninth end, Sweden scored five shots, ending the match and handing Team Mouat their first world championship silver.

At the European level, Scotland edges out Sweden’s 12 championship titles with 14. Team Mouat’s debut in 2018 resulted in gold, and stopped Sweden’s Team Edin from winning their fifth consecutive title. They faced Team Edin again in the 2021 final, triumphing over the Swedes again, with a 8-5 victory.

Great Britain qualified for Beijing 2022 after Scotland finished second at the 2021 world championships in Calgary.

World Ranking: 5th (61.023 pts)

TEAM MOUAT
Bruce Mouat and Bobby Lammie played together as juniors, winning a gold (2016) and bronze (2015) medal at the world junior championships, and gold at the 2017 winter universiade in Almaty. The duo moved to seniors later that year, and formed a new team with Grant Hardie and Hammy McMillan, and won the 2017 nationals, with Mouat becoming the youngest skip to win a grand slam title and Team Mouat the second non-Canadian team, after Team Edin, to win a Grand Slam.

Playing their first international tournament in 2018, they won bronze at the world championships in Las Vegas and gold at the European championships in Tallinn. The quartet have also won three consecutive Scottish national titles (2018, 2019, 2020).
