Impairment Details
She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma [bone cancer] in her left tibia at age 11. She underwent rotationplasty surgery to remove the cancerous bone, including the knee, then rotating the lower leg 180 degrees and connecting it to the remnants of the femur. PREGNANT PARALYMPIAN
She won a silver medal at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London when she was 20 weeks pregnant with her second child Colton. She had kept the pregnancy secret from her teammates so they would not play hesitantly around her. "While we were on the medal stand I had my hand on my stomach, just enjoying the fact that he was up there with me. It will be a special thing that the two of us share."
