She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2008. "I was age 21 and in a phase of full denial [of the diagnosis]. Then over time, slowly, I got closer to participating in events and voluntary activities. I became more aware of the condition and decided to try to get to know other people. At the time of diagnosis, I had many difficulties. I didn't want to talk about it with anyone, including friends. I went through several phases.
