Acquired (Athlete, 18 Sep 2016)

Impairment Details
Her left leg was amputated as the result of a bone infection. "When I was five years old, I was just running in the streets, like all children do. I fell. Because there was no doctor around, we waited for a few days. But after a few days an infection started. It took about a month before I could go to the hospital. At that time the infection had already spread and was too far gone. They could not save my leg and it had to be amputated." (worldparavolley.org, 01 Feb 2018; Athlete, 18 Sep 2016)

General
TOUGH CHILDHOOD
She was age five months when both of her parents were killed at their house during a robbery. She and her brother were raised by their older sister, who was only age 12 at the time. "My childhood was difficult, because after the robbery we had nothing. We survived thanks to the income we got by growing some vegetables and by the small allowances from my sport." (worldparavolley.org, 2016)
