Ukraine are making their Paralympic debut in Tokyo, having qualified through their second-place finish at the 2019 European Championships in Rostock. The Ukrainian team lost the final to hosts Germany, but as the German team had already qualified for Tokyo, the qualification berth on offer at the event went to Ukraine.

Ukraine's most recent appearance at the world championships was in 2014, where the team lost all seven round-robin matches to finish bottom of their group.
