General
SPORTING COUPLE
He is married to US goalball player Amanda Marie Dennis. The pair first met at the 2011 World Junior Championships in Colorado Springs, CO, United States of America, and then became a couple following 2018 World Championships in Malmo, Sweden. They began living together in Germany, and decided to get married after the postponement of the 2020 Paralympic Games. "It's a bit crazy, but among athletes you understand something like that. After all, our coach Johannes Gunther was gracious and I got half a day off from training camp because of my wedding. We feel very comfortable and enjoy our time together. Unfortunately, the [government] offices are always at our necks. A lot of paperwork and bureaucracy, that's the unromantic part of the story." (op-marburg.de, 05 Aug 2020; dbs-npc.de, 23 Jul 2020)

POSITIVE ABOUT POSTPONEMENT
He believes the postponement of the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo will benefit the German goalball team, despite the fact they could not train together at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. "Without a hall and without teammates, no goalball was possible. The motto was, 'Keep fit somehow and wait and see how it goes'. A year more of preparation is a gift for us. Compared to other nations, we are on our way up and have not yet reached our peak. This means that we have more time to work on our weaknesses and get even better." (rehacare.de, 01 Jul 2020)
