BEGINNINGS IN GOALBALL
He set his sights on becoming a karate coach when he began studying to become a sports teacher. He discovered Para sport in 1998 while attending a conference about developmental projects for people with an impairment. He talked with one of the speakers and was encouraged to focus on Para sport and started teaching karate to people with a vision impairment. He discovered goalball in 2001. "I introduced goalball to my karate pupils. They liked it so much that we began playing just for fun. We then started competing and two years later we were among the best teams in the state." FURTHER STUDIES
In addition to his degree in physical education from the Superior School of Physical Education in Brazil, he has a master's degree in physical education from the Methodist University of Piracicaba and a doctorate in physical education from the State University of Campinas [UNICAMP].
