She began paddling after a bet with a friend resulted in her entering a multi-stage canoe race in Australia. "The Murray Marathon was the challenge set and was completed. That's where it all started. I think after the first day I was really questioning what I had got myself into, and that I had taken on a bit too much. But we got through it, and finished the race.
