He was involved in cricket, tenpin bowling, and wheelchair basketball when he was younger. He became interested in Para badminton after the sport was included on the programme for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. "Ian [Bridge] was running the group I was playing in at the time, it was before he became national coach, but he saw I had some potential and told me about the journey I could go on.
