"After high school, I wasn't doing any sports and I met Ian Bridge, who is the national coach. He was organising a 'come and try day', so I attended [in March 2016] and he hung up a carrot and said, 'If you train enough you could represent Australia'. I had played badminton casually at high school so I had some understanding of the game. My passion for badminton grew from that initial training session and I soon joined an able-bodied badminton club and started training with Ian. I became aware that Para badminton was included in the 2020 Paralympics for first time and this made even more motivated and determined to achieve selection for the Australian Paralympic team."
