General Interest
Vietnam won medals at the Paralympic Games for the first time in Rio in 2016. Powerlifter Van Cong Le had the honour of claiming Vietnam's first Paralympic medal when he secured gold in the 49kg category. Fellow powerlifter Thi Linh Phuong Dang won bronze in the women's 50kg class, while there was a silver for swimmer Thanh Tung Vo in the men's S5 50m freestyle and a bronze for Ngoc Hung Cao in the men's F57 javelin throw.
