Powerlifter Mohammed Khamis Khalaf won United Arab Emirates' first Paralympic gold medal when he claimed victory in the men's 82.5kg division at the Athens 2004 Games. He added a silver medal to his tally in the 90kg division at the 2008 Games in Beijing. After recording a DNF in London in 2012, he returned to the medal podium at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro by winning gold in the 88kg division.
Mohamed Alhammadi claimed another gold medal for the United Arab Emirates in Rio with his victory in the T34 800m in athletics.
