General Interest
Shooter Korhan Yamac claimed Turkey's first medals at the Paralympic Games when he won one gold medal and one bronze medal in Athens in 2004. He claimed victory in the SH1 sport pistol and finished third in the SH1 free pistol. He added a silver medal in the SH1 10m air pistol to his tally at the 2012 Games in London.
Powerlifter Nazmiye Muratli was Turkey's sole gold medallist at the 2012 Games. She claimed gold again at Rio 2016 to become Turkey's first multiple gold medallist at the Paralympic Games.
Turkey won a total of three gold medals in Rio, with table tennis player Abdullah Ozturk and the women's goalball team also securing top spot on the podium.
