Maher Bouallegue's record of seven medals in athletics at the Paralympic Games includes six gold medals. Bouallegue won the T13 800m, 1500m, and 5000m at the 2000 Games in Sydney, and four years later in Athens he claimed gold in the T13 1500m and 10,000m, as well as the T12 5000m. Another Tunisian athletics competitor, Mohamed Farhat Chida, has also won seven Paralympic medals [four gold, one silver, two bronze]. He claimed his first gold in the men's T35-38 4x100m relay at Athens 2004, and then won two more in the T37/38 long jump and T38 400m four years later in Beijing. He secured his fourth gold at London 2012, successfully defending his T38 400m title.

Tunisian athletes won a total of seven gold medals at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, which all came in athletics. Raoua Tlili won the women's F41 shot put and F41 discus throw to go along with her gold medals in the F40 shot put from Beijing 2008 and London 2012, while Walid Ktila and Maroua Ibrahmi both claimed the third Paralympic gold medal of their careers in Brazil. Ktila won gold in the men's T34 100m to go along with his T34 100m-200m double from the 2012 Games, and Ibrahmi added to the gold she won in the women's F31/32/51 club throw in London with victory in the F32 club throw and F32 shot put.
