General Interest
Syrian Arab Republic made its Paralympic debut in 1992, and has sent a delegation of athletes to each edition of the Games since.
Powerlifter Rasha Alshikh won the Syrian Arab Republic's first and only Paralympic medal by claiming bronze in the women's 67.5kg division at the 2008 Games in Beijing.
The NPC was represented by two athletes at Rio 2016. Mohamad Mohamad competed in the F57 javelin throw and shot put, while powerlifter Noura Baddour placed fourth in the women's 41kg category.
