Highlights:

Jonas Jacobsson is the most successful Swedish Paralympian, winning at least one gold medal in shooting at each edition of the Games between 1980 and 2012. He has made more appearances [10] at the Paralympic Games than any other Swedish athlete, and competed in both shooting and wheelchair basketball at the 1988 Games in Seoul.

Other notable Swedish Paralympians include swimmers Magdalena Tjernberg and Annelie Ahrenstrand. Tjernberg's tally of gold medals includes back-to-back titles in the B1 400m freestyle and B1 100m breaststroke at the Games in 1984 and 1988, and Ahrenstrand demonstrated all-round ability in the pool by claiming victory in freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, and individual medley events across the 1980 and 1984 Games.

In athletics, Raymond Clark and Mats Laveborn both secured multiple gold medals in throwing events during the 1980s. Weightlifter and powerlifter Bengt Lindberg finished on the podium at five consecutive editions of the Games between 1976 and 1992, winning four gold medals and one silver.

Swimmer Karl Forsman won Sweden's sole gold medal at the 2016 Games in Rio, with victory in the men's SB5 100m breaststroke.
