General Interest
Rwanda has sent a delegation of athletes to each edition of the Paralympic Games since making its debut appearance in Sydney in 2000.
The NPC claimed its first medal at the 2004 Games in Athens, where Jean De Dieu Nkundabera finished third in the men's T46 800m.
Since then, Hermas Muvunyi has come closest to claiming a second Paralympic medal for Rwanda. He placed fifth in the men's T46 400m at London 2012, and again came close at Rio 2016 with a fifth-place finish in the T46 1500m and a seventh-place finish in the T47 400m.
The only other athletes to represent Rwanda at the 2016 Paralympic Games were the women's sitting volleyball team. They lost all three of their group matches and did not progress to the knockout phase.
