Qatar - Profile
General Interest
Qatari competitors have participated in athletics and powerlifting events at the Paralympic Games since the NPC made its debut in Atlanta in 1996.
Qatar secured its first medals at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. Both medals came in shot put in Brazil, with Abdulrahman Abdulqadir Abdulrahman claiming silver in the men's F34 event and Sara Masound winning silver in the women's F33 event. Abdulrahman Abdulqadir Abdulrahman was the NPC's sole representative four years earlier at the 2012 Games, competing in three athletics events with a best finish of sixth in the men's F32/33/34 discus.
In powerlifting, Qatar's highest ranking at the Paralympic Games is the seventh-place finish secured by Ali Mohamed in the +100kg category at the 2004 Games in Athens.
