General Interest
Panama was represented by athletes at the Paralympic Games for the first time at the 1992 Games in Barcelona. It has sent a delegation of athletes to every Paralympic Games since then.
All eight of Panama's Paralympic medals have been won by Said Gomez, who competed in athletics at six Games. Gomez won the NPC's first Paralympic gold medal at the 1992 Games, in the men's B3 5000m, alongside two silver medals. He won two more golds in Atlanta in 1996, and also claimed medals in 2000 and 2004.
At the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, two athletes from Panama competed, both in athletics. Iveth Valdes Romero and Francisco Cedeno Almengor both ranked 11th in their respective throwing events.
