General Interest

Palestine first sent athletes to the Paralympic Games in 2000, and it has been represented at every Games since. The only sport in which it has been represented at the Paralympic Games is athletics, and it has won three Paralympic medals.

Husam Azzam won Palestine's first medal at the Paralympic Games when he claimed bronze in the men's F53 shot put in Sydney in 2000. Four years later in Athens he improved by one place to finish with a silver medal in the same event. Azzam was the NPC's sole representative at Rio 2016, where he finished eighth in the men's F53 shot put.

Three-time Paralympian Mohammed Fannouna is Palestine's only other Paralympic medallist. He won bronze in the men's T13 long jump at the 2004 Games in Athens.
