General Interest

Norway has sent athletes to every Paralympic Games except the 1964 Games in Tokyo. It has won the majority of its Paralympic medals in swimming and athletics, but has also claimed multiple gold medals in dressage, cycling, archery and table tennis.

Swimmer Erling Trondsen is Norway's most decorated Paralympian, winning 13 gold medals between 1976 and 1992. His final title came at the 1992 Games in Barcelona, when he claimed victory in the men's S8 100m butterfly. Noel Pedersen, another swimmer, won nine gold medals between 1988 and 2000. Norway's most successful athletics competitor at the Paralympic Games is Cato Zahl Pedersen, who between 1980 and 1984 amassed five golds in a variety of track events, and one in the men's E1 long jump at the 1980 Games.

Norway claimed three gold medals at Rio 2016. Swimmer Sarah Louise Rung won the women's SB4 100m breaststroke and SM5 200m individual medley, while Ann Cathrin Lubbe was victorious in dressage, in the open grade III individual championship test.
