General Interest

Nigeria has been represented by athletes at every Paralympic Games since it first sent a delegation to the Games in 1992. The NPC has won Paralympic medals in powerlifting, athletics and table tennis, and powerlifting has been Nigeria's most successful sport at the Games, providing 21 of its 36 gold medals.

Sprinter and long jumper Adeoye Ajibola won four gold medals at the Paralympic Games, which is the most of any representative of Nigeria. He claimed gold in both the men's TS4 100m and TS4 200m at the 1992 Games, and claimed another two titles in the T45-46 100m and T45-46 200m four years later in Atlanta.

At the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Nigeria won 12 medals, eight of which were gold. Six of those golds came in powerlifting, which was three more than any other NPC in the sport at the 2016 Games. Nigeria also claimed two gold medals in athletics in Rio.
