General Interest
Nicaragua made its debut appearance at the Paralympic Games in 2004, and after it did not appear at the 2008 Games, the NPC sent a delegation of athletes to London 2012 and Rio 2016.
Most of the NPC's representatives at the Paralympic Games have competed in athletics, with powerlifter Fernando Acevedo becoming the first athlete to represent Nicaragua in a sport other than athletics at the Games in 2016.
Acevedo finished fifth in the men's 72kg category in Rio, while the NPC's athletics results included a fifth-place finish for Gabriel Cuadra Holmann in the men's T36 800m. Jennifer Osejo was Nicaragua's only female representative at the 2016 Games, and she did not qualify for the final of the T37 100m.
