General Interest

Malta first sent a delegation of athletes to the Paralympic Games in 1960. It secured medals in athletics, table tennis and snooker between the 1960 Games in Rome and the 1964 Games in Tokyo. George Portelli claimed bronze in snooker at both the 1960 and 1964 Games, while Claude Markham won bronze in athletics in 1960 and bronze in snooker in 1964.

The NPC won its last Paralympic medal in 1980 in Arnhem, when athletes from Malta claimed bronze in lawn bowls in the women's 2-5 pairs event.

Swimmer Vladyslava Kravchenko was the sole representative for Malta at Rio 2016. She did not progress to the final in any of the three events in which she competed.
