General Interest

Latvia has won a total of 15 medals at the Paralympic Games, and eight of those were won by one athlete, Aigars Apinis.

Apinis has won four of Latvia's five gold medals, claiming victory in the men's F52 discus in 2004, the F33/F34/F52 discus in 2008, F52/53 shot put in 2012 and the F52 discus again in 2016. His tally also includes a pair of bronze medals from the Sydney 2000 Games, making him a medallist at five consecutive Paralympic Games.

Diana Dadzite became Latvia's first female Paralympic medallist when she won two medals, one gold and one bronze, at the Rio 2016 Games. She won her gold in the F56 javelin and the bronze in the F55 discus, making her one of three multi-medallists to have represented Latvia at the Paralympic Games.

The other athlete to have won more than one medal for Latvia is Edgars Bergs, who won two silver and two bronze medals in athletics between 2004 and 2016.
