General Interest

Jordan's only gold medallist at the Paralympic Games is Maha Al Bargouti. She first competed at the 1984 Paralympic Games in athletics, winning a silver medal in the women's 1A shot put. She returned to the Paralympic Games in 2000, this time competing in table tennis. She won gold in the women's singles class 1-2 in Sydney, and added bronze medals in team events in 2004 and 2008. She represented Jordan at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, which was the sixth Paralympic appearance of her career.

Jordanian athletes secured three medals at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, which all came in powerlifting. Tharwh Tayseer Hamdan Alhajaj won silver in the women's 86kg category, while Omar Sami Hamadeh Qarada claimed silver in the men's 49kg class. Jamil Elshebli was the NPC's third medallist, winning bronze in the men's +107kg category.
