Ethiopia - Profile
General Interest
Since Ethiopia's debut appearance at the 1968 Paralympic Games in Tel Aviv, the majority of athletes to represent the NPC at the Games have done so in athletics events.
Ethiopia had to wait until 2012 to claim its first Paralympic medal, when Wondiye Fikre Indelbu took silver in the men's T46 1500m athletics event. Prior to that first medal, one of the NPC's previous best performances was a fourth-place finish by Tesfalem Gebru Kebede in the men's T46 5000m in Beijing in 2008.
The NPC won its second Paralympic medal, again on the athletics track, when Tamiru Demissse ran to silver in the men's T13 1500m at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.
