Team
Ecuador - Profile
General Interest
Ecuador made its Paralympic debut at the 1976 Games in Toronto and has sent a delegation of athletes to each subsequent edition of the Paralympic Games, except 1980 and 1988, but is yet to win a medal.
Among the NPC's most prominent competitors is Wilson De La Cruz, who entered sprint, middle-distance and marathon events across the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Paralympic Games.
Ecuadorian athletes have achieved a number of top-10 finishes since the turn of the century without ever getting over the medal hump. Fifth place represents the NPC's best result in this period, which was achieved by Nancy Martinez in the women's 40kg powerlifting event in Beijing in 2008 and most recently by Poleth Mendez in the women's F20 shot put at Rio 2016.
