Bosnia and Herzegovina - Profile
General Interest
All five of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Paralympic medals have come in men's sitting volleyball. The team have reached the final at each edition of the Paralympic Games since 2000, winning two gold medals [2004, 2012] and three silver medals [2000, 2008, 2016] during that period. Five players have been part of the team for all five medal-winning performances - Asim Medic, Adnan Manko, Dzevad Hamzic, Ismet Godinjak and Sabahudin Delalic. Delalic has also served as president of the Paralympic Committee of Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Bosnian athletes have also competed in shooting, cycling, swimming, and athletics at the Paralympic Games. Although the NPC is yet to win a medal in any of these sports, two athletes have come close. Mustafa Guhdija placed fourth in the men's F43/44 javelin throw at Atlanta 1996, while shot putter Sanela Radzic also finished fourth in the women's F42/44 event in 2012 in London.
Other than the men's volleyball team, the only other Bosnian athletes to compete at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro were shot putters Dzevad Pandzic and Dzenita Klico. Pandzic was ranked ninth in the men's F55 event, while Klico finished seventh in the women's F54 category.
