General Interest
Benin made its Paralympic debut in 2000 in Sydney. The NPC has been represented at each edition of the Games since 2000, although Athens 2004 was the only time Benin sent more than one athlete to the Paralympic Games.
The only Beninese athlete to have appeared more than once at the Paralympic Games is Akouavi Bladine Sahenou, who competed in the women's 67.5kg powerlifting event in 2004 and 2008. Her best finish was sixth in 2004.
Cosme Akpovi was the sole athlete to represent Benin at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. He finished 13th in the men's F57 javelin.
