General Interest

Angola has sent a delegation to each edition of the Paralympic Games since 1996. The only sport athletes from the NPC have competed in is athletics.

Between 2004 and 2012 sprinter Jose Armando Sayovo secured four gold, three silver and one bronze. He claimed three gold medals, in the T11 100m, 200m and 400m, on his Paralympic debut in 2004, and at Beijing 2008 he won three silver medals in the same events. Four years later in London, at the age of 39, he won a bronze medal in the T11 200m before reclaiming the T11 400m Paralympic title four days later.

No other athlete from Angola secured a podium finish in the period between 1996 and 2016, although the men's T11-13 4x100m relay team placed fourth at the 2008 Paralympic Games. Evalina Alexandre also went close in Beijing, finishing fourth in the women's T12 200m.

Angola's best result at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro was a fifth-place finish in the men's T11 400m by Jose Chamoleia. He also competed in the T11 200m, and ranked seventh.
