His mother Marina Pankova [Nikulina] represented the Soviet Union, the Unified Team and the Russian Federation in volleyball and won gold at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul and silver at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. His father Vadim Pankov has worked as a volleyball coach and was head coach of the Russian national women's team between 2018 and 2019. His sister Ekaterina Pankova has represented the Russian Federation in volleyball and won gold medals at the 2013 and 2015 European championships.
