Serbia are making their second appearance at the Olympic Games in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay, following their debut in 2012. In London, they recorded the 13th-fastest time in the heats and did not make the final. They qualified for Tokyo with one of the four fastest times in the qualification period among teams that did not qualify via the 2019 World Championships.
The Serbian team have appeared at the last three world championships, not managing to qualify for the final at any edition. Their highest ranking at the tournament is ninth in 2017, and they placed 15th overall at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju.
At the European championships in May 2021 in Budapest, they swam in the final and finished seventh in 3:13.73, the time that secured their place in Tokyo.
